DARLING, The late Edward, B.A.Sc. - Mechanical Engineer; Former President, Darling Bros. Ltd. (est. 1888; inc. 1906), Manufacturers and Distributors of Pumps, Elevators, Heat Exchangers, Steam Specialties and Heating System Equipment, Head Office: 140 Prince St., Montreal, Que.; Branches Toronto, Ont.; Ottawa, Ont.; Winnipeg, Man. 

Born Montreal, Que., 1873, son of Thomas Darling and Elizabeth. Educated: Montreal High School; McGill University (B.A.Sc., 1894). Commenced with Darling Bros. as engineer-draftsman, 1901; made a partner with two brothers, Arthur J. Darling and George Darling; firm incorporated, Darling Bros. Ltd., 1906 and became Secretary-Treasurer; Vice-President and General Manager, 1915; President and General Manager, 1925; relinquished General Managership, 1949. Has been actively connected with Verdun Protestant Hospital since 1920, Treasurer, Vice-President and elected President, 1953; Governor, Montreal General Hospital since 1935. 

Married Edith M. Burgess, daughter of Dr. T.J.W. Burgess, Montreal, 1901; has one son, Thomas C. Darling and one daughter, Jean Elizabeth Darling.

Religion : Protestant
Clubs : Royal Montreal Curling Club (Life Member); Beaconsfield Golf; University Club, Montreal Club. Recreations : golf and curling. Hobby : gardening.
