MAPPIN, Kenneth George; merchant.
Born Canterbury, England, December 5, 1895, son of the late Major George Mappin, 4th Dragoon Guards, and Florence Howard Smith.He was educated at Haileybury College, Herts., England.
He married Bell Taylor, daughter of John Percy Taylor, June 1, 1922. Children: Sheila Bell Mappin & John Newton Mappin.
PRESIDENT, MAPPIN LTD., MONTREAL, P.Q. ; commenced his career with Mappin & Webb, London, England, 1912; spent some time in Sheffield Works learning electroplating, and in Paris with their diamond department; following demobilization, 1919, joined the diamond buying department. He came to Canada as managing director of Mappin & Webb (Canada) Ltd. in 1921.
He served in the World War 1914-19; joined 1st Battalion, N. Staffordshire Regiment, August 1914, as 2nd lieutenant; served in France with 1st Regiment, 1915-17; promoted to captain and transfered to the 27th Squadron, R.F.C. ; demobilized, Feb. 1919. He is a member of the Montreal Board of Trade.
